Prishtina Summer University
Between 2001-2004, SPARK and the University of Prishtina (UP) successfully implemented the first four editions of the Prishtina Summer University (PSU). These comprised 30 courses annually and brought together more than 250 international and local professors over these years. So far, more than 4000 local, regional and international students and more than 400 local and international professors have participated in the Summer University.
In 2005-2007, the University of Prishtina with the limited assistance of SPARK organized three further editions of the Prishtina Summer University. The PSU 2005-2007 programme was smaller than the previous editions in order to guarantee future (financial) sustainability. Each year, 20 courses were organized for a total of 400 students. At least 50 places were distributed among non-Kosovar participants from the Western Balkan region. Ten additional places were reserved for students from the University of Mitrovica. Public discussions and lectures on current topics complemented the academic programme. In addition, social gatherings, excursions and other recreational activities were offered. The Summer University helps to further improve the quality of higher education in Kosovo and to accelerate its integration into the European Higher Education Area, i.e. the Bologna Process. Students that pass the exam can automatically transfer their grade to their respective university.

PSU has achieved proved values and provided encouragement for regional reconciliation and cooperation among different committees and academics from the region.
